COGENT Winter School

 

The first COGENT Winter School will be held in December in Galway, Ireland. The COGENT Winter School consists of two weeks of on-site learning in Galway, Ireland, followed by an additional week of online training in which students will be required to develop their collaborative online skills.

Topics covered

Students will attend several courses covering the following topics:

  • GAP: Introduction to GAP [B. Eick, G.Ellis]
  • OSCAR: Introduction to Oscar [T. Breuer, M. Horn]
  • PARI/GP: Introduction to algebraic number theory with PARI/GP [B. Allombert, A. Page]
  • REGS: Regulators [H. Gangl]
  • LEAN: Interactive theorem proving with Lean [S. Dahmen, A. Chavarri Villarello]
  • QUANTUM: Quantum information and computations with Qiskit [M. Mhalla]
  • CHOW-WITT: Chow-Witt groups [J. Fasel]
  • COHOMOLOGY OF ARITHMETIC GROUPS: Cohomology of arithmetic groups [P. Elbaz-Vincent, H. Sengun]
  • CYBER: An overview on cybersecurity and cryptographic engineering [T. Camus, P. Elbaz-Vincent]
  • ART I: Jewellery from tessellations of hyperbolic space [H. Gangl]
  • ART II: A practical introduction to tessellation origami [R. Quinlan]

The courses will be recorded and made available online.

This winter school also provides a valuable opportunity for the thirteen COGENT doctoral students to meet in person. Social activities will be organised over the weekend to give everyone the chance to meet.
