Project: Computing isometries and automorphisms of lattices: Classical vs Quantum Computing and Applications (DC9)

Supervisors: Philippe Elbaz-Vincent, Mehdi Mhalla

Location: Université Grenoble Alpes, France

My name is Gabriel Alejandro Jalil and I'm from Argentina. I studied at my hometown university, Universidad Nacional del Sur, where I completed two Licenciatura degrees: one in Mathematics and one in Physics. I've been interested in scientific research for a long time, so I started getting involved in small research projects as early as I could. For example, I had a one-year fellowship in mathematical physics, where I worked on the inverse problem in Lagrangian mechanics; this led to a seminar talk in 2025. I also worked on my Physics thesis (similar to a Master's thesis) on nucleation and growth on toroidal surfaces, combining theoretical analysis with numerical simulations. I also presented posters with friends at a quantum mechanics conference.

Now I work with Philippe Elbaz-Vincent and Mehdi Mhalla on computing isometries and automorphisms of lattices. This PhD is a great opportunity for me because it lets me grow as a researcher, explore a new area and learn from their experience.
